Happy 3rd Birthday Winston

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WINSTON!

Winston is celebrating his 3rd Birthday today!  Winston joined our family when he was 5 months old.  Winston has brought such a different perspective to the Basset Hound breed.  He is very unique, loveable and we think pretty darn handsome.
We are so glad you are part of our family.

Lots of Love and Drool
HDM, HDD, Tabby, Cleo and Amiee

Birthday pictures to come soon!

Trying out Picasa

We thought we would see what we could do with some pictures of ours through Picasa. We were able to crop and auto contrast these all by ourselves. HDM was right though, we can run circles around this computer while it tried to complete all this. Our goal is not eat any more remote controls, shoes, hats, etc, etc, etc.....This way maybe we can help save some money to get us a new computer that has just a little (okay a lot) more memory in it. We think our true colors are more exposed in these pictures. Oh, we also uploaded through Picasa, which took forever and a day on this computer. What do you think?

HDM's 1st GABR Transport for 2010 - Mandy

Here are a few pictures of the latest transport HDM did for GABR on Wednesday (1-13). HDM got the call from GABR on Tuesday that we had a young basset that needed to come to her foster home. So off HDM went to Danville, IL to pick up a little (approx. 2) year old girl. We have only seen pictures of her since HDM doesn't bring them home to us. She is afraid that once they come in the house they won't leave. But she is always taking lots of pictures of her transports. She picked up Mandy and brought her back to Bloomington to her friend, Foster Dad B. His foster dog Henry was adopted within 2 weeks, so he is ready for another one. We hope Mandy has the same success as Henry did.
Mandy deciding where she wants to ride front or back. She settled on the front seat for the entire trip.
Where did you say we were going?
It is a lovely day for ride and I am going to my new foster home. They will find me a fur-ever home where I will be loved forever. Dreaming of that day!
HDM has said we have a little bit of a trip so I am going to settle in for a little nap. This way I am ready for my new foster dad and 4-legged foster sister. Can you see my little stuffed bunny I am sleeping with. The shelter I was at gave this to me to take with me, that was really nice of them.
Oh, HDM has said we are getting ready to make a stop. Is it my new foster home?
Nope not yet. This was HDD's work place where all transport bassets must stop to visit if he is not along for the trip. I loved this place and was right at home, but it was just a potty stop for me and HDM.
A few pictures that HDD took of HDM with me. She must always have pictures of us.
Mandy, we wish you all the best and know you will find your fur-ever home real soon. You were one of the best riders and loved to give lots of kisses. Such happy girl you are and you will make someone a great fur-kid. You truly fit the nickname I gave you "DANDY" Mandy. :)

Snow Day - Part II

Hey HDM, I think our feet have warmed up and we are ready to tackle this -20 stuff one more time.

I think there is a critter up here Winston. Cleo skipped on the second attempt at snow day, that is why she is not in any pictures.

These snow days are hard work.

Good Night,

Snow You Say

This was out the front door when we woke up Thursday morning (1/7/10).
This was out our back door this morning when we woke up. HDM had been telling us we were going to be getting a fresh coat of snow on the ground. Boy was she right this time, when we woke up we had approximately 3.5 inches on the ground with another 3-4 expected throughout the day.
Well the door has been open so we can begin our journey. Even though HDM got a new camera, these may not be the best quality. Since she refused to go outside and take pictures. She was taking them through the screen door and every know and then would open the door and poke her head out with the camera.
Of course, I don't journey to far from the door on a day like this. But could you please put away that camera while I do my business. Since you do not have 4-paws, have no idea what it is like to have go pee in -20 degree.
Boy my face sure is cold, what is this stuff but let me get it off before you before you take a picture.
A little shake, check out that frozen slime (I mean drool) coming out of my mouth.
There, how's that....
What, snow on my nose.
Honestly, we all just love the snow but it is very hard to have that much fun when your little paws freeze within 5 mins. That is because someone said it is below zero (-20), whatever that means. But in our terms that means for some quick freezing drool and quick potty trips. HDM has said maybe we need some snow paw booties, we think not. So we thought we would torment HDM some before settling in for a little nap.
Winston, I really want to see what is on that counter.
Not before I check out the situation first. It appears a package has arrived but I don't think it is food related.
Well lets see do I want the couch or the chair? Oh, the joys of heat and couches.
It sure is a good thing I am little. See Tabby takes almost two whole cushions on the couch. The Hounddogs

New Year's Eve Transport - Joey

HDM got another call from GABR (Guardian Angel Basset Rescue) on Wednesday (12-30). They were needing to get a basset from Southern Illinois to his new foster home in Peoria, IL before the new year. And of course HDM jumps at every chance she gets to rescue and bring a basset to its foster home or fur-ever home. So if you are looking for a very good looking basset boy check out Joey on the GABR website. He is currently learning the ropes in his foster home but looking for a fur-ever home to call his home.
Joey our New Year's Eve Transport - We wish you all the best in finding your fur-ever home and hope you have the best year in 2010.
No more cold days trying to find food and shelter.
All Joey wanted to do was get up in the front seat and sit on HDM's lap all the way home. I just need me some snuggle time.
HDM saying good buy to Joey as she drops him off with his Foster Mom.
