Comment-A-Thon at Pip's Blog - In Memory of the Houston Pittie Pack
Mayzie started a Chip-in, which is on the sidebar of our blog if you would like to make a donation to help assist them on getting back on their feet. We know that there is nothing we can do or say that will bring back their beloved fur-babies, but we hope to maybe bring a little comfort to them with a some green papers. If you can spare a dollar or two to help a wonderful family, then please click on the Chip-in link.
Pip is having a comment-a-thon through Sunday - for every comment left on his blog he will be donating $.50 to the Pittie Pack.
Please if you get a few extra minutes today please stop by Houston Pittie Pack blog and leave their family some words of encouragement, prayers I know they could sure use them right know.

Run Free - Sweet Lilac
We have gotten to know the family of greyhounds and one Shepard very well through the blogging community. We actually had the privilege of meeting Bunny, Blueberry and Morgan on a nursing home visit one night. We never had the privilege to meet Lilac in person, but we felt we already knew her from her blog posts. As her Mom is the most elegant writer that I have come across. And we know from her blog she was the best Mom that Lilac could have and Mr. Taleteller the best dad. We also know that Blueberry, Bunny and Morgan will be feeling her loss as well as they attempt to adjust to a new "normal".
Lilac had the bestest of family (two-legged and four-legged) that brought her so much joy once she retired from her racing years. She had her pillows fluffed and her fan positioned just right everyday. Lilac just recently celebrated her Sweet 16 birthday on September 20, 2011 and she celebrated in style for sure.

Our Hearts Or Heavy Today
![]() |
| In Memory of Callie The Basset Hound 12/1/2003 - 7/30/2010 |
Callie has had bad sickies (cancer) and this morning her family posted she had lost her battle and she was running free at the Rainbow Bridge. We know that they are having a rough time and their heart's are broke, so we would really appreciate it if you could send some drool and special words to them at their blog at Cheesehounds.
Even though we never got to meet Callie in person, her stories have touched our hearts and we will miss her sweet words of wisdom and that sweet smile that she has. Callie, we know you were greeted with open paws to the Bridge and are now able to be pain free and that is what a sweet girl like you deserves. But it sure doesn't make it any easier and I know how much Droopy, Mommy and Daddy are hurting today. We just wish we were closer to them so we could sit, hug and talk wonderful stories about you today.
Droopy and Callie's Family, I wish there was something I could do or say that would make today better for you. I just want you to know how much you are in my hearts today and how bad my heart aches for you. It has not been that long since we lost our Tabby girl so I know Callie has a great friend at the Bridge and I am sure they are swaping slobber, but it sure doesn't make it any easier. Please give Droopy some extra love today because I am sure she is missing her best buddy.
We will look for the new bright star in the sky tonight, and say a prayer for you because we know Callie is shining down on you and your family.
Lots of drool, sniffs and tears

Tabby - At the Rainbow Bridge
You came in to our lives when you were 10 months old in 1999 after being abused and passed to 4 different homes in your puppy year. We found you “FREE” in the paper and called immediately then drove almost 60 miles to be the first ones there to claim you. We brought you home to Precious and Elliot (who have since passed), you walked through the house out the back door and it took the next 48 hours to convenience you it was safe to come back inside. We had no idea that you suffered from threshold shyness. But after 48 hours of being told, the house is yours go wherever you want, you finally tried it and never looked back. You were so well behaved and loving and just want the love returned, which I hope we accomplished in the 11 years that we had you in our lives.
You suffered the loss of Precious, had to endure having Miss “Attitude” Cleo brought into your life. You then suffered the loss of your mate Elliott and finally developed a bond with Cleo. You then endured the addition of Winston who made every attempt to chew your ankles off at a puppy, but then you too became the best of friends. And then with the addition of Amiee, who kept you on your toes with all her “in your face” barking. You were truly the best big fur-sister they could have asked for.
I will miss your huge bellow of a bark when I came home every night, your sweet tender disposition that you carried with you through the end, our long walks or speed walks when Winston was walking us. We know in our hearts you were greeted with open paws by Precious and Elliott and are running and giving lots of slobber kisses to them for me. We were so blessed to have you “pick” us to be you’re fur-ever family after all you endured as a puppy. For you to trust us and open your heart to us was amazing and we will treasure every day that we had you in our lives.
Cleo, Winston and Amiee are doing okay but Winston and Amiee are looking for you. As they sat outside till late in the evening just looking into the stars. I hope you sent them a sign so they know that you are okay and that we will all be together again one day, a day that we all can run free in the flowers and the meadows.
You are gone but never forgotten and will always remain in our hearts forever.
Tell we meet again.
Love,
Mommy, Daddy, Cleo, Winston and Amiee

In Memory of Wally Dog - 3/3/2010
March 3, 2010
My BFF (Amy) called me last night (3/4) to let me know that her Wally was set free of pain and discomfort yesterday afternoon (3/3). She had to help her Wally Dog cross to the Rainbow Bridge.
Amy found Wally has a stray and took him in made him part of her family 13 years ago. She loved him with all her heart. When Wally was 11 he was diagnosed with a bad case of hip dysplasia, but Amy was determined Wally could overcome it. She enrolled him in some Eastern style treatments and was doing amazing that he could get up on his own walk around the yard and even enjoy some swimming. She truly gave Wally a new lease on life and was able to enjoy him for another 2 years. Amy was so dedicated to making sure Wally had the best care anyone could wish for. He was such a trooper and loved his Mommy with all his heart.
It was such an honor to have the privilege to meet Wally 4 years ago after finding my BFF, through lots of dog stories and drama. Wally leaves a huge empty space not only in Amy’s heart, but her husbands, Minnie (her fur-sister) and especially mine. I am sure Amy’s house is a little more quite since she has experienced two losses in less than a year. Wally's heart was so big and he never met a stranger he didn't like. When I would go to Amy's house Minnie would be running circles around you, jumping like a wild child. But then you would look out of the corner of your eye and there is Wally just standing their so patient with his toy in his mouth.

In Memory of Our Lost Fur-Kids
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another friend of mine had to help her Rescue Sheltie "Missy" to the Rainbow Bridge on Monday, June 22. My friend, Patty, adopted Missy from the local Sheltie Rescue. She was in very bad shape when she joined their family. They brought her back to health and she thrived in their home. They added several other rescue shelties to their home, but there is always something about that first "Rescue" that stays with your heart for a long time.

Missy - June 2009 (picture to be added soon)
Uncle Schroeder and Missy I am sure you were greeted with "OPEN PAWS" when you crossed to the Rainbow Bridge. We will see you all again someday.
In Memory of the Fur-kids at the Bridge:
Precious "Pokey" - my first ever basset hound. 6/14/93 - 6/18/05
Elliott - my big lover boy basset hound. 7/24/95 - 1/22/07
Miss Reba - my BFF's fur-kid. 6/17/05
Uncle Schroeder - my BFF's fur-kid. 6/15/09
Missy - my other BFF's fur-kid. 6/22/09
So I have decided that June has not become the best month for me. If it wasn't for my Wedding Anniversary in June, I think I would just skip it. HoundDogMom, Tabby, Cleo, Winston and Amiee
