Attack The Remote Controller Day

Amiee here..... Well today was not one of my better days according to HDM. She told me that the dog house was being built for me. I have been giving her this very sad face all day trying to tell her how sorry I am that "I ate the remote control" this morning. I believe it is partially HDM's fault since she shut us out of the bedroom this morning at around 4:00 am, we were being a little rowdy this morning, a little to earlie. She then woke up late at 5:45 am and opened the bedroom door to me sitting there with little pieces of remote control hanging out of my mouth. I guess that is what gave me away. Thank God she didn't think to grab the camera that early. But she did manage later to capture a few pictures of the now "destroyed" remote control.

See this is not the first time I hate one of these remote that is specific for the VCR/DVD Player. It was my second one and this one she just ordered off the internet and we only have had it 4 weeks. They have been very good at placing these items up high away from my wondering mouth. But last night, HDD failed to do this and it was the first thing I could think to do this morning was turn on the TV. Darn thing would just never work for me. Turns out HDM told me I had the wrong remote to turn the TV on. I needed the other one, to bad she didn't explain that to me before this morning.

HDM is sure hoping I have learned from this. I have received the cold treatment today (a little), but the worst thing of all was I lost my walk privilage for the night. My sisters and brother are not very happy me with. HDM says it doesn't do any good to punish me for something then give me a walk at the end of the day. Let me tell you, loosing my walk is like loosing a kids favorite toy. So this is what I am suppose to chew on now. Amiee

Howdy, This is me and my brother Winston waiting for HDD (HoundDogDad) to come home. Well the weather is beginning to get really nice in Illinois, finally. We have pretty much had nothing but rain, rain and more rain. This creates a lot of "mud" in the back yard for the fur-kids to play in. It just totally amazes me how 3 hound dogs can go out and not get in any mud, then one goes out and finds enough mud for 10 dogs. You seen previous posts of Amiee after her mud day. Here are just a few pics of us lounging in the back yard. Winston, Amiee and Cleo
All us older dogs use to be able to enjoy the bed, without Amiee. But within the last few weeks Amiee has learned how to use her back legs and can know jump on the bed herself. She thinks this is a really grand thing when she can hang out with us bigger dogs. We on the other hand wish she would never had learned it.
Not much bed left when they all get on there.
Please Mom don't tell me she just figured out to get on the bed.
See ya,
Tabby, Cleo, Winston, & Amiee

Cleo's New Best Friend

Cleo again, How about that 2 posts in a row. I just wanted to tell you about my new best friend that HDM adopted. We have a fire-belly toad and he is the neatest/coolest thing I have ever seen. HDM adopted him from her brother when they moved to Texas. They didn't think he would make the trip and they are living on Bolivar Pennisula that was devastated by Hurricane Ike in Sept 08. They have no way to feed the poor little toad. So HDM is a sucker to pretty much anything that needs a home. As you can see in the video I am quite fond of Mr. Toad as well. I have this nice little stool that I purchased (with HDM and HDD's help) at the local community sale. It provides me a nice little stool to see him from and being a basset with short legs I need a little help. Well I hope you enjoy the video of me meeting my New Best Friend - Mr. Toad. Thanks for checking in, Cleo

Cleo's Night Out

Cleo here.....
Finally I get to have my say on the blog for a change. My brother Winston and sister Amiee seem to be hogging the blogging time. As HoundDogMom (HDM) stated in her previous post, she works with helping homeless animals. Well on Friday night (4/24/09), I got the opportunity to strut my stuff on the runway. Our local Humane Society had a Paws Pageant to raise money for the their shelter. It was the first one they have had and they had a great turn out. There was 30 dogs total in the 4 various different catagories.
HoundDogMom does not usually do quite all these things with dressing me "Cleo" up. Well since she had just came from a 50/60's themed Basset Ball and still had her outfit. She said it was time to see how I did with dressing up and hitting the "cat walk". Gee when she said "cat walk" I thought this will be fun because I love to chase "cats". But for some reason this was just a little bit of a different "cat walk". This "cat walk" had 2 stairs, red carpent and huge amount of young kids at the end of it. HDM and I entered the Dog/Owner themed catagory. HDM was dressed as the "Greaser Guy", again and I dressed in a 50/60's outfit as well. I did not have the average "poodle" skirt on because mine was homemade and it was the official "Basset Hound" skirt. HDM made my skirt with fringe and a stuffed basset hound on the back of it. I then wore a pink top (HDM made that as well), it proudly stated that I was a member of the Pink Rescue Doggies. Of course, we didn't win but we had lots of fun and raised lots of money for our local Humane Society that night. HDM was so very proud of me and said that I was a "WINNER" in her eyes, and to me that is all that matters.
Here are few pictures of me in my 50/60's outfit. We are already working on the next costume for next year.

Basset FundRaiser

HoundDogMom here....
With having a house full of hounds I decided to volunteer with several organizations. I volunteer at our local Humane Society and also do transporting for Basset Rescue (GABR) out of Dwight, IL. Well every year they have two fundraisers (Basset Ball and The Waddle). On April 18, 2009 they held their Basset Ball and I attended to help raise money for the Basset Rescue. The theme this year was 50/60's so my friend and I decided to dress for the theme. I dressed as the "Greaser Guy" and she went as my date. It was tons of fun and lots of money raised for GABR to continue thier mission of helping homeless bassets. Here are a few pictures of my girlfriend and me for our night out on the town.
This is me "HoundDogMom" in my Greaser Guy outfit.
