Swimming Lessons Anyone

Well HDM tried to do something totally different with me this past week. I told you we have been busy with lots of stuff. I am not sure how I got selected to be the one try this wonderful adventure on my own. I guess I drew the short straw this week. HDM has a BFF that is an animal lover as well. She has two dogs (Wally and Minnie) who love to swim, so she thought why not invite my BFF and her hounddog Amiee. See I am named after HDM's BFF (Amy), she sent the pictures to HDM and it was down hill after that. Well here are some pictures of my first swimming lesson. We're doing what? Swimming? I think this water may be chilly. I must first test the water Well this might not be to bad. I don't need to go further. Well I don't think I am quite ready for this. HDM decided I was ready so I was taken to HDM's BFF. Here I go...... See Bassets do swim! Once is enough for me. I am going home. \ BFF, Minnie in the back and Wally in the front. Swimming without his life jacket. Go Wally. Minnie and Sammie in the lead. Please Mom, don't ever take me to swim lessons again. Finally back home. Catch me if you can. She took me swimming and I didn't like it. Do you want to go next time? Winston, this swimming thing isn't really a basset thing. Swimming is hard work though. Good Night, Well I sure hope I don't have to document one of these types of posts again. I can sure think of better things for a basset to do then go swimming. Amiee

Long Over Due Walk - Part II

This part of the walk will be about me (Winston) and my big sister Tabby. See me being the only male hound in the family, I need quality time with all my girls. No actually HDM says I just have way to much engery and two walks help mellow me down for 5 minutes. HA HA. Here are a few pictures that HDM took of us out the second part of our walk.
Winston and Tabby just getting started
Continue on to greener pastures Tabby looking for duck poop Tabby doesn't even notice the geese
Winston has spotted the geese...Tabby HELP! Tabby to the rescue Tabby and Winston sniffing it out Tabby - hot/tired? Well that is it for the walk.

Our Long Over Due Walk - Part 1

Thought we better check in with everyone and say we have had a very busy week. For starters we finally got that long over due walk we had been howling about. HDM has been very busy with tending the garden (canning beans, tomatoes, cucumbers) and then corn last night. We love to eat green beans, and Winston really loves tomatoes. I think he is very confused and thinks it is a ball to play with, then it smushes and makes a mess. Enough about that lets get to the walk we went on the other night. HDM has never even attempted to take pictures on a walk with us. Seeing walking 3 basset hounds on leashes doesn't really leave much free time for the hands to use a camera. But we have always known that this mom has some hidden talents that she doesn't want everyone to know about. The only thing I noticed with her pictures is it is mostly of tail/butt shots. I think she is going to have to work on this just a little because not everyone just wants to see our cute little butts, they want to see some of these sad droopy eyes and long ears. She promises it is a work in progress and will improve with time. Winston, Amiee, Cleo looking for rabbits Winston, lets go!
Amiee and Winston waiting on Cleo Cleo always bringing up the rear
Hang on tight HDM!
This is what 3 retracable leashes look like
Amiee and Winston - Anyone Home? Amiee - Common Cleo lets go! I know I smelled a Fuzzy butt! Amiee/Cleo - soaking hot feet
Gotta hurry, looks like rain...... Oh, is it all over, I don't want to go in
That was our walk for the night. Check out Our Long Over Due Walk - Part 2. That ones has pictures of Tabby and Winston on their walk. See HDM can't walk all of us at once, so she does it in shifts. Us the three bassets walk first then she brings us home and gets Tabby. Winston being the wild child that he is he must have two walks so he goes again with Tabby.
Hope you enjoyed following us on our walk. We sure enjoyed it.

Weekend Visitor

This weekend we had the opportunity to meet a 10 week old basset puppy. HDM hooked one of her friends up with a lady that had some basset puppies. She selected a little girl and named her Annie. It was so much fun having a puppy in the house. HDM loves that puppy breath. Here is a picture of Annie and her Mommy Eve.

Cleo loves all puppies and Amiee did very well for seeing a puppy for her first time. They become fast friends in their short visit with us. Winston was a little cranky that day and was not greeting vistors very well. He did some snarling and snipped at her so he was shuffled to the bedroom behind closed doors.

We sure enjoyed her and look for her to visit again. Annie and her family will be joining us at the Waddle so we will have lots of pictures of that weekend.

Be back later this week, hopefully.

Weekend Activites - Homemade Treats

Hello Friends, Well this weekend HDM decided to make some homemade Peanut Butter treats. Yum Yum. We love it when HDM bakes treats for us. The one thing we didn't get was a walk but I guess treats are pretty important. HDM has been busy with the garden and looking for a new camper for us to take to the waddle. She promises that we will begin training this week. Amiee chillin before the treat baking began. She has just found out how to perch on the back of the couch. Such a big girl. Treat Making process. First the dough must be rolled out to perfection. Huge pile of treats waiting to go to the oven. Treats baking in the oven. Treats in the dish to be frozen for later. Homemade treats must either be kept frozen or in the fridge so we don't get no ickies from them. Then if you are smart like Amiee you sit close while HDM is preparing them to go to the freezer. Maybe you can catch one or two. Amiee very pleased with her findings. :) Thanks for checking in. HDM has another post about our vistor we had this weekend as well. Cleo, Winston, Amiee and Tabby
